Default Liftgate only working part of time 2008suburban

Hi, I'm new to the fourm. Last week I purchased a used 2008 suburban from a used car dealer. It is an LT 1500.

In the last few days I have noticed that the liftgate only works if the vehicle is running, or has just been turned off. I went in walmart today, was in there about 45 min. When I came out, the remote did not open the liftgate, and it would not open by using the touch pad. I put the key in the ignition, turned the switch on, took the key out, and then the liftgate opened with the remote just fine. Went from there to another store, was only in there about 10 min, came out and the remote worked just fine. It has been doing like this for a few days. The remote start seems to work fine, and I always unlock the vehicle before trying to use the automatic liftgate. I have also tried if the remote does not work just to open the door and use the button to open it from the inside, but it does not work either if the vehicle unless the vehicle has been running recently.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

check battery connections and health. It draws lots of juice and if I am not mistaken it will NOT operate on limited amp/voltage available.

Thanks, I was thinking it might have something to do with the battery. The battery that is in it now is 600 cold cranking amps, that seems kinda small for that size vehicle to me. What size battery should it have? I have looked in the manual but all it says is 12 volts...

Battery drain and amperage is a big problem with these subs. I personally have a dual battery setup to keep that from happening.

Search battery and charging systems here. Lots of information.

My sub is a 2008 3LT
