I saw that exchange offer several years ago and considered it but w/ the shipping it got up to about $1,100 and the factory option was $1,300 and I don't have to do w/o the truck for the turnaround or worry about somebody screwing up the TPMS valves.

I know this is an old post but want to say I bought a 2009 Blk/ebony LTZ Tahoe with the 6.2l engine. At 5000 miles it developed a engine knock. The dealer put a new engine in it and I traded it in. I bought a 2010 sheer silver/ebony LTZ with the 5.3l engine. Very happy with the engine but have noticed the hood appears to have light and dark spots in it. Don't know if this is because of the metallic or just a sorry paint job.

a 'new engine' at 5,000 miles?! I hope you got a good trade.

and no, my sat nav is not fixed at almost the 1 year mark, GM cut me a $940 check instead.

and yes, I still have a rattle near the drivers door, I hope to fix it myself this spring, when its not 40 outside with snow blowing sideways at 60mph...

Must be the paint job. Mine doesn't have that appearance.

That's pretty much exactly the same track as my LTZ except 2WD.

I only notice the the dark and light cloud like spots on the hood. It also is only noticable in the direct sun when its overhead. I went to the dealer and looked at some other sheer silver and noticed the same but just different degrees of it. Also noticed it bad on a silver sheer corvette. I don't want the hood repainted so I guess I'll live with it. I just wish it wasn't like that.

Had the same issue with my silverstone met. TBSS The hood looks blotchy in the sun. Never bothered me much but now i know what you're saying. Just chalked it up to the characteristics of the paint makeup with the Met. flake. Cause to me that's where the blotchiness came from on the paint. I could notice it all around my truck..

Having owned two black GM SUVs and both had areas (usually in jamb area but one on the edge of the roof) where in bright sunlite, I could see the light gray primer thru the paint. I suspect that's what you're seeing on your hood. The silver is so thin that the dark primer is showing thru.

Thanks Tony for your response. It's getting where it doesn't bother me and I'm enjoying my new Tahoe. I do like the silver. I have always had black.
