Default Maxed out oil gauge

I'm new and need help, I bought my wife a tahoe an a couple weeks ago for no reason the oil pressure gauge went to 80 psi all the time. What's the easiest way to remedy this? New gauge?new dash? Add separate gauge? Sorry on advance if this has been covered.

even when the engine is off? The guage never moves; or moves to 80 when the engine is started?

Take it to tech2 to get it fixed...he needs to wipe his greasy hands on something and the interior of your truck should do quite nicely.

Well, that isn't resolving this guys issue. Is this the only guage doing this?

Yes that is the only gauge that is malfunctioning.

Click on the menu bar TSB and recalls on the main page I'd bet there is a service bulletin on that.

Does the gauge go to 0 with key turned off? What year is the truck. On some years there was a recall on the stepper motors in the gauges. May not be your problem, but worth investigating.

No the gauge goes to 80 only when the key is turned. The tahoe is a 2006 5.3L z-71. Its not a gradual increase either. It shoots straight to 80 if that helps
