May have a solution tomy battery problem
I know there are a few mechanically inclined folks on the forum, so I pose this question to you. If I connect a second battery to the factory battery and run them both at once, will that send my BCM into outer space ? A connection sort of like they have on diesels. There's that other battery try sitting on the driver's side just begging to be used, and I'd like to put it to work. If not both batteries, can I use the Optima yellow top and run a cable from the second tray to connect it alone?
Do a search thru this forum as there is several topics on the addtion of the AUX battery, if i recall the hook up kit from the dealer is about $150.

This will be adding "extra" weight to the vehicle, granted not a lot over all but it is extra weight that can impact fuel economy.

I already posted on your other thread before I saw this one. It should work just remember to run them in parallel (pos to pos, neg to neg) it will combine the sum of the two battery amperage ratings and keep the 12v. In most diesels the batteries are run in series (pos to neg) which keeps the amperage but add the batt voltage to equal 24v.
You can do this, I am not sure what is in the GM 2nd batt kit, but surely it can be done correctly and safely for much less than $150.

I think the kit contains an isolator to prevent a bad battery from taking down the other. If you look under the fuse box cover there is a stud right next to the AUX battery tray that has a positive voltage on it. What I don't know at this time is if that could be used to charge the aux battery and also supply power to the fuse center. I will try and do some reading up on it this week.
I have read every thread on the 2nd battery install. This GM battery kit is referred to numerous times on this website. But never oncehave I found nor heard the GM part number or what is included in the kit. TMW597 gave a number off his receipt that was something like 01BATKIT or something like that. But whatever it was wasnt a valid number.
If someone would give me the information on thie 2nd battery GM install kit including the part number I would like to look into it and see exactly how much it is, and what comes with it. Thanks.

I thought that ZX had mentioned it in a post I'll see if I can put a second set of eyes on the post and try and find it....
I found the post but there is no part or kit...
"Installing dual batteries is the easiest thing in the world, there currently isn’t a kit for the Tahoe but the hard part (aux bat tray) is already there. Now it's just a matter of dropping the battery in and wiring it together.
You’ll need the hold down clamp (just like the factory battery already has) and then you’ll need the black and red battery cables, swedge on some end clamps and then just wire the system + to + and – to - .
Make sure that your second battery is the same part number as the stock battery or replace both batteries.
