Microphone on headliner
I recently bought a 2003 Tahoe with On-Star. I noticed that the vehicle has what I think to be little microphones scattered front to back in the headliner. When I first crank the vehicle, I pick up a hum in the one directly above me that appears to be from a motor. I say this because when I shut it down, I can hear the motor slowing down until it stops. After some period of time, I do not hear it going down the road. I assume the onstar is turned off as a default. My first thought is to pop out and disconnect a wire from that microphone and put it back but wondering if someone else has encountered this. Manual did not come with car and I have not subscribed to service.
Thanks.

I think this might be the same as what was in my truck, but mine is 2007. Its a little fan with I guess a temp sensor on it that must pull in the air or something to sense how to make automatic adjustments to the hvac system.
Anyways, its an annoying little bugger when it goes bad. I was able to get to mine through the sunroof side of the headliner. You can buy replacements on amazon for about $20 iirc.
Well worth not listening to the noise. It was driving me insane as its positioned right near my left ear, and the noise was likely at a pitch my hearing picks up perfectly lol.
