MPG compersion 2007 vs 2009
I set the cruise at about 66-68. It does have the 5.3 with the active fuel management(hence the V4 mode). As far as rar, I dont know off hand, I will have to look at the window sticker and let you know. I do know that it has the 18" wheel option and tires are 265/65/18 Bridgestone Dueller with 50% tread
most 4x4 have the 3.73 gears I thought?
my boss has a 2007 LTZ 4x4 with the 3.73 gears and when we went on a trip at 70mph his RPMs were right at or over 2k. in ours the RPMs at the same speed are around 1850. He usually gets 19 sometimes close to 20 on the highway

the 6 speed in 09+ changes the rear to 3.08 for the 4x4
and the 4x2:

As far as using axle ratios for any useful info, with modern 5,6, and even 8 speed automatics, it's not really that useful of a number... unless you happen to want to know how many RPMs your driveshaft is spinning at a given speed...
my 6 speed with a 3.08 has a lower 1st than the 4 with the 3.73 and possibly the 4.11 gears (I'm not running the #s, but you can)...
and a higher top gear for cruising...
Back in the day I assume D was a 1:1 from the transmission or 4th was a .75:1 and some meaningful comparisons could be created via axle ratio, but today... with 2 OD gears in the tahoe.. what's the point?
what you should compare is the final drive ratio in each gear..

comparing the rear end ratio is only relevant if you are talking about the same transmissions also. in this case the Tahoe's with the oooold 4 speeds. Then the rear end ratio does change mileage among other things

Quite a few '07s came w/ a 4.10 ratio and those seem to always report higher mpg. While it's counter-intuitive, ZX hypothesized that it was due to the engine operating in its "sweet spot".
I got my 2010 w/ the 3.42 which comes w/ the HD trailering pkg. It was also the lowest ratio available that year.
