Default My purchase of 07 Hoe - poor timing

I had planned to purchase a 2007 Tahoe for some time holding off on the 06 to get the redesigned 07. I also held off my purchase to maximize the rebate offer. I registered on line with Chevrolet and they sent me a very nice/comprehensive sale brochure for the Tahoe. I visited all of the Chev dealers in the area and found the LT1 with all of the options that I wanted. I visited three of the local dealers in early Dec., 2006, that I wanted to deal with and was partial to one. Each dealer sales rep convinced me that although they could not be sure they would guess that no additional rebate would be forthcoming in Jan, 07 from GM. Their story was that the Tahoe was a relatively low volume car and GM was concentrating on the high volume cheaper cars with rebates. Although I sensed that a better rebate would be offered after the first of the year, I went ahead and bought the car on Dec. 21, 06, kinda feeling sorry for the dealer whose sales were awful in 06 and thought this would help.

On Jan 10, 2007, I received a flyer from Chevrolet personally addressed to me as a preferred customer and offering me an additional $500 rebate that extended from 1/3/07 -3/31/07. I called the 800 number on the flyer, got a customer service rep in Argentina. I pleaded my case for the $500 and after several telephone exchanges with Argentina, he gave me another market filter who ultimately got me Chev marketing. The marketing rep said that she could do nothing for me and suggested that I write Ed Peper, President of Chevrolet motor Div. and report my story. I might as well write to George Bush.

Poor timing but all in all, love the new hoe.

Regards,
DaveK

I'd be damn happy if the only incentive I missed was a lousy $500 clams!
It seams as though every time I purchase a new GM vehicle they come out with an epic incentive a couple days later; I work for the outfit.

The dealers are not notified even a day in advance on upcoming incentives, in fact most incentives are closely guarded corporate secrets unless there’s some strategic reason to leak the information.

One correction though, the Tahoe is not a “low volume vehicle” by any stretch of the imagination, it is the #1 selling SUV on the planet with many dealers across the nation selling more Tahoe’s per month than all there total car sells.

Tahoe sells typically rank #2 for most dealers after Silverado.

FYI, I’m purchasing a new Silverado 1500 this week and so if any of you want a great deal wait a week to buy yours.

To each his own. I bought Dec. 23. I took the $2500 rebate. I did not want to chance by waiting till January and possibly loose out.

I was lucky enough that I got 3000 off the sticker on top of my special GSM. So I payed close to 8000 grand less than my sticker of 53000. Then they had the 0% financing the next month......arghhhh!!!

Don't forget you get a tax break for "larger" purchases like new vehicles. It is nice to be reporting that 45k purchase this year!! Don't know if it will be enough to cover that $500 but it is something!
