My 1995 Tahoe just had a tranny rebuild 2years ago and it's got roughly 9000 miles on the build. Now for some reason it's having trouble going into gear. It runs but when you go to put it in gear you must do so by counting over to the correct gear as you pull on the shifter handle because it's (the gears) not showing up on my dash gauge. When this happens my truck will run but it pulls hard on my tranny. Can anyone out there help me with what may be going on with my truck. I know a little about trucks but I'm not a mechanic and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

 

The neutral safety switch needs adjustment. That is the box that fits over the shifter on the left side of the trans. When it is adjusted properly the indicator light and backup lights will work.
