Post Nav map disc reading error!!!!! Please Help!!!

I have a 2005 Chevy Tahoe with the factory installed touch screen navigation system. To my question, when I insert my map disc it gives me this error "Unable to read DVD correctly. Check if DVD is damaged or dirty." However, it will sometimes read for a little while and then I get this message. The map disc is not scratched or dirty... it is a good disc. music cd's and burned cd's work fine.

Thanks!!!

Default how to

http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Clean-a-CD/

http://www.ehow.com/video_2499_clean-cds.html

(I do IT for a living)

Or... spit on it (seriously) the under side.

then wipe CENTER TO OUT.
NEVER IN A CIRCLE and NEVER AROUND the disc.

CDs/DVDs are read like a record player, you want to minimize any chances of scratching it along the data track.

or can you copy it? burn a new copy? computers are designed to 're-read' bad areas a few more times than your headunit, possible copying the data to a new disc might work

Default special

not really, they are all kind of the same, a small brush on the disc to clean the lens of dust...

you could always disassemble the head unit and clean it manually

I dont know what else to tell ya if you've tried that.

the fact that it plays other discs fine would suggest to me that it's the disc, not the player...

Based on this statement " However, it will sometimes read for a little while and then I get this message. The map disc is not scratched or dirty... it is a good disc. music cd's and burned cd's work fine"
I think the owner is perhaps putting the Nav DVD is the media DVD slot by mistake. Why do I think this ,because I did it wrong myself after the last free update. Remember there is an on screen selection that says "Eject NAV DVD" and then the screen motors up cool like to show the NAV DVD slot.

And in other matters the 4.1c update does contain the new firmware that will install if your unit requires. It is on a dual layer disc, and not a blueray besides there aren't any blueray burners out yet ONLY Blueray readers

That's the way the NBS works. Does the GMT800s work that way also?
