Default NAV not showing freeway exit names

Why does the NAV show Freeway Exit number alot of the time instead on the names of the exits ?
I'm in California and very few exits have the actual numbers posted on the signs....

The NAV will show names on some exits and numbers on others... no ryme or reason....

They are not new exits... at least 2-3 years old or older !!!

I'm not impressed at all with the OEM NAV unit....
It lacks many features of the after market models (Traffic routing link to XM, etc) for what was a premium price....

That's the Left Coast for you. Even here in flyover country, we have exit numbers.
