Need Brake Help - 2007 Suburban
Hey guys,
I am a newbie here but not new to forums... I need a little help.
I have a 2007 Chevy Suburban Z71 (4 wheel drive). At about 40,000 miles the dealer said I needed new brakes all around. OK. They installed new brake pads and turned the rotors. I have never been very impressed with the brakes. They have heat up a few tims during heavy use and I had brake fade. Since the dealer installed the new brakes and turned the rotors (shrotly after) the front end would vibrate when applying the brakes at high speed. Then it started vibrating when they would heat up. Now it seems to vibrate about 75% of the time when the brakes are applied. They new brakes and rotors have about 10k miles on them.... Any thoughts on the problem?
Does anyone make a heavy duty brake/rotor set for my truck? I am thinking about taking it somewhere and having a heave duty set up installed.
Any thoughts? Thanks guys.

What you need to do is go back to the Dealer that did your brakes and insist that they surface your rotors with a Pro-Cut On Car Brake Lathe. This the REQUIRED Brake Lathe for all GM Knock Off Rotors. The problem you are experiencing is called thickness variation of the rotors... This is caused by the Hub on the Vehicle having Runout over .002". When the shop takes your rotors off and surfaces them on a Bench lathe it does not correct this runout issue, it can and will even multiply it. Your GM Shop should know better, if they don't then GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. You can go to Pro-Cut International's Website and put your Zip Code in for the nearest Shop that owns one. The next shop you go to for Brake Work, Request that they use the Pro-Cut On Car Brake Lathe, you will be glad you did.
