Default Need help w/ towing capacities of 2005 suburban 2500!!!

This is driving me nuts try to find the actual towing capacity of this Suburban I am about to purchase. It is a 2005 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 series 6.0 w/ 3.73 rear end. Vin # is 1GNGK26U35R215025
I looked online everywhere and found answers anywhere from 7600 pounds to 12,000 pounds.
I even called the Chevrolet Customer Service number TWICE!
The first lady on the phone told me towing capacity was 7,700 pounds. Fifteen minutes later I called back and a different guy was dead set that towing capacity is 12,000 pounds.
I tow a travel trailer but more than anything I just want to know the actual towing capacity of these 2500 suburbans.
Anyone out there tow anything heavy with this exact set up.?
My travel trailer is 5880 pounds empty.
Thanks in advance.\

the 4.10 rear end (option code gt5 found in the glove box list) is the way to go...tows way better.

with the 3.73 the max trailer weight is 7600lbs and the gcwr is 14000lbs.

the 4.10 rear end 9600lbs max trailer weight and 16000lbs gcwr.

I driven both vehicles but p/u trucks versions. With a load the 4.10 can pass slow moving cars uphills effortlessly. The best gas engine, towing vehicle I have owned.

tech 2 -where did you get those weights ? My Tahoe has a towing capacity of 7400 pounds so it seems unheard of for a 2500 suburban to have a towing capacity of only 7600. Most places I read and according to Chevrolet towing capacities are much higher than that....

the data comes right from the owners manual for a 2005, 2500 series 4wd suburban. Where are you getting your information that says its much higher?

tech2-thanks for your help on this.I called the Chevrolet customer service number and these 12000 towing capacities are what they said they have per the owners manual for a 2005. Do you own a 2005 2500 suburban ? Are you getting straight out of your manual?
Thanks

Realistically I think the towing capacities are prob around 9000 not 12000.....

I am a gm service tech. The information comes from the owners manual from a gm service website for a 2005 suburban with the build options you mentioned.

if you still doubt these numbers I can't speak to that.

Good luck

A capture of the manual...
What is an "extended model" ? longer body/frame?

yes you guys are right. Looks like towing capacities are low for this set up. 4wd 2500 suburban with 3.73 is only 7600#. Looks like I will just look for a 2500 series truck with higher tow capacity.
Its so hard to believe my Tahoe 1500 5.3 v8 4x4 w/ 3.73 towing capacity is 7400# and this suburban 2500 is as low as #7600. Who knows why its a mystery to me

Part of the reason could be because the Suburban weighs more.
