Sorry I cannot be of much help! I am not in your area, and the salvage yards around me all have older vehicles.

Anywho, I am not sure what airbags cost, as I have never had to replace one, but you may want to check eBay. I found a couple by doing a quick search HERE and HERE that are just over $300.00. I don't know if that's reasonable or not, or what you are looking to pay, but it's just another option. Either way, Good Luck!!

Thank you for replying to both of my threads, I appreciate the positive comments.

I'm hoping to drive my car legally down to my cousins this weekend, so sort of in a rush.

Default well

you could rent a car. or borrow a friends.

but I don't think anyone is going to let you 'borrow' a safety device from there vehicle...

sorry.

I'd compare the junk yard parts prices to new. I don't know if I'd trust my life to an air bag part that's been in an accident. But that's just me...

Why would I waste money on a rental car
Plus I'm sure neither would allow me to take their vehicles mudding

What would be a good reason not to let me borrow their air bag for 30minutes, honestly?
No one would be driving their vehicle
They would be going with me to get my inspection
I don't think it's a matter of it being a safety part, but rather people have insecurities about trusting someone they don't know, reasonable, or too afraid / not enough knowledge to take out an airbag

Default lol

1. because it's MINE. that's why I bought and own it
2. because if I'm in a crash it will help save my life lol.

I may be wrong, but hey, post a poll, and ask people how many of them would let you do what you ask, and if they answer honestly, it will be entertaining.

Wait... Why are you replying if your not willing to help out a fellow forum member?
Not really a topic that requires criticism.

Your number 2 doesn't make sense, you wouldn't be driving your vehicle with no air bag.
Remove it from vehicle
Install in mine
Both go get inspection in my vehicle
Return
Remove
Install in yours

Thank you for reply though, if you would like to further this conversation please message me as I would like to keep this thread clean.

Thank you

My first question is "What happened to yours?" If it deployed you have more of a problem than just an air bag. The whole system would need resetting not to mention sensor replacements. And I would vote no also. Who would be responsible if the air bag accidentally deployed while being removed or installed? Just not a good idea.

Thank you for your concern,
The air bag was removed, it was a government border patrol vehicle in which no air bag was installed. I have the computer to reset codes... So that's not really a problem, even if the car were involved in a accident.

Are either of you mechanically inclined, like do you work on your own vehicles?
Because you're right, it's not a good idea, if you're not mechanically inclined I would definitely not suggest you touch your vehicle let alone the air bag.

Air bags don't just explode, as ironic as that sounds, remove power to the vehicle and nothing will happen.

What are we voting on?

Anyone know of a forum with a younger generation?

Just voting if it's a good idea for 2 strangers to swap out an air bag.
Like I said, who's going to be responsible for the cost of a new air bag "if" something goes wrong? Not a cheap repair by any means.
