the 454 would have the power but the mpg would suck. I am leaning toward a 350 or 355...wifes car just cracked the intake and is now down...I cant catch a break!

I dropped a GM crate engine into my 96 Hoe at 150K and it has been pulling a 27ft travel trailer for 3 years now with no problem. The 4L60E trans is taking a beating to I usually haul in 3rd speed most of the time and leave the O/D alone under heavy power. Unless you are trying to drag 6000-7000 pounds accross the mountains the fresh stock engine will do you good. Upgrade to cold air intake and a 3" cat back exhaust and you will be surprised and the power gain. I can get 14MPG pulling a 4500 LB trailer and 21 on the HWY with no trailer. Whee
