Default New to forum / fuel pump q's?

'99 Tahoe.
Waiting for my mechanic to come pick it up..
but,
went thru some water yesterday on way to work. Then it started fine at lunch..
but by 5 wouldn't.
Don't know if bad fuel? Pump? or water got in somewhere?
there's a lot of stuff under the hood that looks like it could be improved..
*I've only had this a few months , buying from friend.. and it's not been taken really good care of. Was leaking powersteering / had a hose replaced.
Replaced the battery when it had starting issues and found out it had the wrong battery in it..
It's got a pulley that's a bit out of line / wasn't put back totally right my mechanic said.. which cause a belt to rub and that WAS the next thing I was going to have fixed but not getting it running is priority.

And lastly.. it needs new tires.

Doesn't look like you had this Tahoe checked out before you bought it. It must not of been a very good friend unless he gave you a great price and told you about all the problems. Do a fuel pressure check to see if the pump is good.1
