Default New guy, 98 Tahoe with issues

I just traded a guy my 95 2500 6.5 TD for his 98 Tahoe with a 5.7 gasser. I needed more room for the little one. I have found that it has a few issues. Number one is that when I open the door NO lights come on, and no reading lights will come on also when you press their buttons. I checked the fuses and they are good I am kinda looking at where to go from there?? Also the auto locks will not lock all the doors, but when I shut the truck off all the doors unlock I have not yet tried to tackle that one, as it does have a aftermarket alarm and I am not sure is that is my issue with the locks. Any help will be appreciated!!

Welcome to the forum.

Since you mentioned that it has an aftermarket alarm, that's where I'd start. When they start hacking into the vehicle wiring w/ crimp-ons, anything can happen down the road.

x2 that could be the cause for both of them since some alarms (i'm not sure if many newer ones do or not) run off the dome lights. (ok so it may be dated old crap but still a possibility) but yeah I'd start looking at where they hacked the alarm in.

might also check the bulbs... make sure they are there and not burned up, maybe something sent enough juice thru to burn them all up at once. (I know a long shot but hey it's an idear)

I did some poking around today and I found that the door pin on the drivers side is missing. So I am sure that that has something to do with it.

How bout that!!! I replaced the door pin and then went and looked at the right fuses and now all the lights work!!!!! I did not know that fuse 3 in the panel was the one that controlled the interior lights. So all is good now on the the other things. Also with the door locks I jerry rigged the alarm remote and when I use that all the doors lock and unlock like they are suppose to.

Well I spoke to soon.....The interior lights do not shut off like they are suppose to also now the rear locks do not lock any more?????? Any ideas??? I am confused. When I try to lock the doors you can see the voltage drop hard on the voltmeter in the dash, but that is only when you try to lock it and not when you unlock it. It will unlock all the doors perfectly, I also replaced the lock relay and it still does the same thing???
