HAHA! Oh boy here we go!
This is all since 96K!
This what has broke, or I've had to work on...

(not in order)

Air Compressor burnt out (due to leaking shocks)
Replaced Rear Air Shocks with Bilstiens
(Soon Needs new front struts YAY!)
Had to replace battery 2nd summer owning the thing (Charges @ 15.2 volts)
starter went open circuit
rear lift gate latch (Fixed, NAV, DVD/CD, And Lift Gate)
Summer 2011 or 2010 (cant remember):
front left wheel bearing
front left axle shaft
3 new front rotors
3 new front calipers
3 sets of Wagner thermo quiets front pads
(back to long list)
u-joints
master window control in drivers door
needs new AFM lifters (developed tick at 96k)
all but 2 of the outlets are dead

thats all i can think of for right now...

AFM is garbage. I recommend getting a good tuner instead.

The GMT900 generation is nothing compared to the 800 generation in my opinion. But that's cars in general. They just don't seem to make them as good as they used to in the late 90's or early 2000's.

sepedajh,
I totally agree with you. I absolutely loved my 2002. Far superior quality compared to my 2007. Much better ride, and nicer interior.

Oh well, my 2002 had 100k, and was only 2WD. And we were moving to NY so needed 4WD. So bought the 2007 from our friends. I sure miss that 2002...

To answer your question, well. I DID try to buy back my 2002. Later in 2009 the U-joints literally exploded on our friends when they were on the highway. And the drive shaft beat up the under side some. By the time they told me they had already gone back to the dealer and bought their 2003 Z71 back.

And the straight up answer. NO. I will not buy another suburban. Nothing 2008 and newer and all used have too many miles... Refuse to buy any gm after the freaking buy out and then hand out to the union.

Buying used from friends or from the dealer is a always a gamble. You truly don't know how they treated it or maintained it. Some peoples idea of maintenance is changing the oil and that's it.

Joe in NY - your list isn't that bad at all. I expected some MAJOR stuff. This stuff is small in comparison to what I've dealt with with the early Ford SD and Excursions.

Had a 96 Suburban (bought used) that was great till the head gasket let go (as was common but I didn't know about) and cost me a motor. Now we're talking some coin.

OK.
My friend bought it NEW. Always took it to the dealer. Was HIS daily driver to work and back. Family was RARELY allowed in it. No food or drinks were allowed in the car either. So it was spotless. And well kept. (not so well kept now haha)

I bought a used 1993 Ford Explorer back in 1996. Had 100K on it. Put another 100k on it by like 99 or 2000. And all I had to replaced was the HVAC interior Blower Motor! Thats it! Limited Edition Ford Explorer V6 4X4. 200k and a blower motor went bad... I was very pleased with that car.
