-- Update --

I got the overhead monitor installed and working with the iPod. I am very happy with the install especially for what I paid. The only complaint I have is that the audio is not as loud as I expected. You lose a little bit of quality with the FM modulator. There might be other modulators out there that are better, but I'm not going to bother. It works fine for watching Barney and Dora!

BTW. The only other item I had to purchase was the antenna adapters for the modulator. $15.00.

I've noticed the volume/sound quality isn't as good when I use the headphone jack on my iPOD... is there a cable that uses the data-type iPOD port and splits to the RCA jacks you have on your adapter?

Regardless, cool setup. Thanks for sharing. That overhead display is interesting... and I'm interested to see how you're going to do the headrest monitors. Are you cutting them in? Surface mounting? Replacing the headrest with some that have cut-outs?

The headrests are going to be cut and the monitors will be flush mounted in the headrest.

Apple makes an AV Kit for $99.00 that has a docking adapter, remote, and USB charger. The dock adapter has a line out that you plug the AV cable into. Even though your iPod is in a "dock" it still uses the same AV cable for $19.00. I figured I would save $80 and just get the cable to see how it works.

If you are looking for a solution that uses the dock, look at the Dice cradle.

This gives you a video out, but you still need to deal with audio. A 3.5mm headphone cable to the AUX port on the stereo would work. I didn't go this route because I don't want to see a bunch of cables hanging off the NAV.

Ultimately I will go with the new adapter that GM is coming out with. I hope it works. It seems too good to be true.
