Default New Tahoe

I'm looking at the 09 Tahoe.. why can't I order the 6.2L with the towing package? I need to tow stuff, but the 6.2L would make driving more fun...

What tow pkg? I thought all Tahoes come w/ a 2" hitch receiver. The 09 sales brochure lists the towing specs for the 6.2.

taking a guess just because you have the receiver doesn't mean you have a towing package... to me towing package is:
receiver hitch
trans cooler
oil cooler
wire harness to rear bumper
rear locker
lower rear end gears

My 97 Tahoe had all those and listed as "towing package"

My 07 has the receiver, harness and locker but no coolers and does not list "towing package"

looks like the RPO code for the heavy duty towing package is
"Z82 Trailering equipment, heavy-duty"

I agree but you don't need that to tow the rated loads. Just added insurance for when you do or a good idea if you tow your race car or boat every weekend.

Default stuff

the 2009 has an integrated brake controler (option) but if you select the 6.2L you can't select the tow package.... 2" that's class III right? but if you select the 5.3L u can.. I will see if I Can get a screen shot.... yea they may all have the reciever; but I want the tranny cooler and such, I need or want to rather, pull my Wrangler (about 4,000 lbs loaded w/gear) and the trailer, another 2,000 so that's up to 6k... 3 ton's baby... i need something that can do that for 2-5 hours at a time... and pull a 7k boat for about 20 min at a time...

Option1:

"Trailering Package, Heavy-duty, includes external transmission oil cooler and engine oil cooler and provides increased trailering capabilities. Requires Vortec 5.3L V8 SFI FlexFuel engine with Active Fuel Management or Vortec 5.3L V8 SFI with Active Fuel Management and 3.42 ratio rear axle."

option2:

"Trailer Brake Controller, Integrated. Requires Heavy-Duty Trailering Package with Vortec 5.3L V8 SFI FlexFuel engine with Active Fuel Management or Vortec 5.3L V8 SFI with Active Fuel Management."

whenever u hit the 2nd one it removes the 6.2L... i guess I could always go aftermarket, but I like crap built in....

3.42 axle?! that must be because of the new 6 speed... my old tahoe has 3.73 and the Jeep has factory 4.11s!
