Default Newbie with question

Hello everyone! Glad to be here! Have a question for ya'll. I just put true duals on my '96 2dr Tahoe Sport. My service engine light came on, ran the codes and it's my O2 sensors. I ran the duals from headers back...taking out the cats. Do I need to put the cats back on or is there a O2 sensor plugin switch I can use on the sensors to get the light to go out? It's just as easy for me to put the cats back on, but they are 12 years old and probably not in the best shape. Thanks for your help!!

Hello and Welcome:

Why not just shut off your check engine light? I don't think your going to hurt anything not having the O2 Sensor. Does it still run good?

you wont pass emissions.

but they sell little resistors or whatever that fake the ohm load from a would be sensor.

now im not saying it works, because ive never tried it.

Go buy an O2 simulator and fake out the ECM. They are like 20-30 bucks...

We haven't had to pass emissions here in Michigan for about 5 years now.

Thanks for the responses ya'll. I just bought 2 mil eliminators (O2 simulators) to shut-off the light. Tahoe runs and performs great...apparently the after sensor just lets you know if the cats are working correctly and doesn't affect performance. Thanks again for your replies!!!
