Newer model's seats in a 99?
Hi, first post here. I own a 99 tahoe LT that has just a hair over 170k miles. The front seats are getting tired and showing their age. I am considering replacement of the front seats, would the mounting positions accept seats from a newer model, or do I need to look for a set from a low-mileage 99 model? There is a really nice set from an 00-06 model on ebay that I would bid on if I thought they would fit.
I hope someone can help, this looks like a forum with some traffic.

a good upholstery shop could definitely "rebuild" the seats for you. If you go that route, you will not need to get into the hassle of modifying your new seats or fabbing brackets.
I cant exactly recall with the 99 model but I'm fairly sure that the seatbelt is on the b-pillar. later models like my '04 has the seatbelt integrated into the seat. I'm pretty sure that due to that the mounting point of the seats may be different.
Nothing is really impossible. I had a '76 Chevy and was going to buy a 60/40 bench seat out of a early 90's Chevy truck. I am pretty decent with fabbrication and wasnt too worried about the brackets. All I did was take measurements and found that the height and width were nearly perfect. You would need to consider the same things if swapping between years. A good walkthru at some junk yards would be a good start. take a notebook, camera and tape measure.
otherwise... call an upholstery shop.
