Default No Fuel?

Hey guys, need some advice here. 99 Tahoe 5.7 222,000 miles. Tore my engine down over the weekend because it started burning some antifreeze through the cylinders. Pulled intake and all down to the valley.
Pulled valve covers also. Engine was very clean. I spend 10 hours on this thing cleaning and inspecting every part.
While I had it apart I put on new fuel pressure regulator. After getting it completely reassembled and getting #1 on TDC and setting rotor. I find out from the book that I have to take it in to get timing set by computer on this beauty.
One problem, it wont run for me at all unless I pour gas down the intake. It will run and sounds great for about 2 minutes or until gas burns up.
Is there something that tells the spider assembly when to spray the gas? What is going on here? I pulled the posts off the battery to hopefully reset the computer also.
Thanks for any input because at this point I really dont have the bucks to take it and get it worked on. I need to get it to the shop running so all they have to do is set the timing at "X" rpm for me..
Shoot, forgot to mention that I went and rented fuel pressure tester and I have over 50 lbs up to the spider. No problem with it previous to the is tear down. I also changed fuel filter.
