No Spark
After installing the distributor, it ran great for about two days...then it ran like crap. I wasn't able to connect to the ECM module, so I wasn't able to verify the +/- 2* of ignition retard. I've tried all kinds of OBDII tools, but the only one to work was a family friend's Matco tool. I caved in and took it to the shop. The found that the ECM-B (ABS Module) was causing a problem with the ECM-A from reading properly. They adjusted the timing, and said the distributor was almost perfect.
After that, it started throwing a P0300 code (random misfire) and a P1381 (misfire detected - No communication with Brake Control Module).
I understand the Brake Control Module is required to work properly to verify there is no off-road driving occurring when a potential misfire could occur.
I'm planning on replacing the spark plugs as they look a little worn despite being replaced about six months ago. I'll also ensure the gap is set to .040 instead of the original setting of .060.
I replaced the brake control module about 10 months ago as I having an issue with ABS light coming on when slamming on the brakes.
Fuel pressure is at 50 PSI (fuel pump failed last month and I replaced it). The techs noted the fuel pressure started to drop as soon as the ignition was turned off.
I'm aware that the spider fuel units were problematic. I'm thinking I need to get another used Brake Control Module. New units cost over $500.
I think I'll look into what it takes to replace the fuel spider valve and see where the best place to get one is.
Anyone have something similar happen or have some good advice as to where to proceed?
Thanks!
