No Start and no crank
Hi All
99 suburban 5.7l with 206 k miles 2wd
After 6 months of slow cranking , kinda like dead battery it finally has given in. All the lights still turn on properly and all electrical works fine.
She will not crank and all I hear is the click from the starter relay.
This happened overnight as before it (even slow) always started right up. It is an older truck so I do not wish to throw to much money at it any more ...
So what are my possibilities here:
Bad starter?
BAd battery?
My issue is that I have VERY limited supply of tools and work space.
What do you all suggest?

Do the interior lites go out or get very dim when you try to start? If so, it's most likely battery, otherwise I'd get the starter & solenoid checked. First start w/ a fully charged battery.
Hi shark,
Lights remain the same. dash Lights also remain on when turning the key in "crank " position so really nothing is happening. No security lights . only the very small click form the relay. Battery is good and everything worked fine when I parked her yesterday....kinda stumped right now

Sounds like the starter or solenoid has gone Tango Uniform but first you need to check the battery connections to the solenoid. Also try tapping on the starter and then see if it will engage. If that works, then the starter is bad.
