Exclamation Oil Burner

I've had my 07 tahoe 14 months, 12 of those spent doing oil consumption tests!! Gm says it's ok to burn 1 qt in 2000 miles?! Anyone else with this problem?

Default oil burn

my '95 with 280,000 on it would burn a qt every 3,000... not really a big deal to me.

When did this problem start? under warranty?

How are you tracking this?

Do you get a low oil warning while driving?

Does yours have the engine that cuts out the poewr to half the cyliders when under light throttle? I seen something somewhere about GM having some piston ring problems on these engines. They are aware of it and have up-dated rings to replace them with. Have your repair tech check for service bullitins on this because they won't always be forthcoming with this info unless asked. As far as the amount of consumtion, warranty can be a tough thing to get when your at the mercy of their pass/fail criteria and their $$ are paying for it. This is where you have to hope the dealership will go to bat for you and put some pressure on them.

My 07 has just over 78k miles on the odometer. I have not seen any loss of oil by any means, i.e. leakage, burning, etc.
