Default 2003 Avalanche Oil Burner?

New to this forum but not a new chevy owner. seeking advice on this issue. have owned this truck for about five years now, and loved it ever since. recently the oil consumption has become a big issue. within a year it has been from one quart of oil every three thousand miles, to what it is now, around a quart of oil every thousand miles. I have always ran valvoline full synthetic, as this is what the previous owner, my grandfather, has always ran. I have heard about the oil consumption on the AFM 5.3l motors, but never on an '03. I have cleaned and inspected the PCV valve and it seemed clean. Truck is a 5.3 2wd model with a 3.73 rear gear, with around 130k miles. has done some moderate towing but nothing on a regular basis. no campers or boats or anything like that. any thoughts? is this typical?

I had a problem with Valvoline in my truck, try Mobile 1 extended performance , not regular Mobile 1.
I have consumption problem also using regular Mobile 1 and Castrol.
Amsoil and Mobile Extended seems to work better.
