Oil pressure

Oil pressure
Oil light / stop engine came on this morning. When I started the engine again oil gauge went up then slowly started to drop again to zero. I added a quart of oil and seems ok, but oil pressure seems to be lower than before all this happened ( 20 to 40 psi, 20 being at idle) what should be the normal psi reading. Help
Thanks Don Iggy
