Oil Level Sensor replacement

Oil Level Sensor replacement
Yesterday, the DIC displayed an engine oil level low warning. I checked the oil level and sure enough, it was low. Added a quart and it's to the full mark again. However, the low oil level message is still displaying. I'm assuming the sensor is faulty, so I've ordered a new oil level sensor, GM part # 12603782. Has anyone had any experience with replacing one of these sensors? If so, any tips/advice on how to best complete the job? I assume it's best to do this the next time I do an oil change with the oil drained? Thanks in advance for your help.

There is a thread somewhere on here, with part diagrams showing the location of the sensor. Let me see if I can find it...
Here ya go...hope this helps some. And yes it looks like you'll have to drain the oil first, then swap out the sensor.

P0521 sensor code
I know that this is an old thread, but if your reading today, this info may be helpful. I had a low pressure readings on my 2007 Tahoe LT 5.3Flex throwing every couple of days. Oil level was in the full range. I has just bought the vehicle, used. So, I went out a bought a new oil pressure sending unit and filter. Did not replace it after I saw how much of a pain it would be to do myself. I took the vehicle in to a local repair shop for a bid. $600, way too rich for me. GM says to remove the intake manifold to replace the gauge.
Anyway, I did some more searching on the web and found a blog where the owner fixed his problem (low oil pressure) with an oil change. I tried the same. Had my oil replaced with Mobile 1 full synthetic, 5w30. This is GM spec'd oil weight. Anyway, when I drove off, my oil pressure was 40 and is still running 30 at idle and up to 45 on the freeway. No more check engine lights.

the level sensor and pressure sensor are completely different, and the pressure sensor can be replaced without removing the intake. If an oil change fixed it that's great but a lot of times the pressure sensor can have intermittent problems.

im curious here.
assuming the oil pressure gauge in dash is reading correctly, what should it say at idle in park, and while moving around town, and while on the highway, for a 2000 burb?
on the highway mine reads about 40 (the middle), going around town its around 30, and stopped or at idle it reads about 20.
