Default Oil loss 2006 suburban 1500

I have a 2006 4 wd suburban. In good shape. 140000 miles
few days ago noticed small oil puddle in car. But only once. Parked different spot. No drop. But was 2 qt down. Started today ran well. Idled for 15 minutes no oil drip, drove to a ski area 150 miles away. Oil level was stable. No loss or drop . Stop the car for a half hour and then drove 2 miles to the ski area then drove back to my house and when I started the car after that, I could hear the valves clicking And dipstick shows no oil . Before this car used no oil. Has anyone had this. Drove 3 hr on highway and oil stable. Then short drive and no oil. ?????

you need to find the leak. If you have trouble seeing it, get a leak detection kit.

Also, please read the instructions on your screen, specifically the title that says:
IF YOUR QUESTION IS SPECIFIC TO A CERTAIN MODEL, IT DOES NOT GO IN THIS SECTION.
Thanks.

Default Addition to my oil loss

Additional info : the day before this started I think I caused it. I had replaced my oil pressure sending unit several months ago. When I did the job I accidentally broke the clip that holds the electrical plug to the sending unit. It later vibrated off. So I looped a wire around the plug and draped the wire down the side of the tranny and tied it to the tube the dip stick slides through. (To put downward pressure on the plug to keep it attached so it won’t vibrate off )
my guess is I have inadvertently pulled that tube for the dip stick up and out of oil pan. . Allowing the oil to get thrown out.

is this possible. ? Is that tube just pushed into the oil pan ? Any thoughts?
