Omegalink OL-RS-GM10 review
I just installed the Omegalink OL-RS-GM10 remote starter on my 2007 Tahoe. I have to say it was pretty easy. Pretty much all plug and play. You will need to also buy the OL-Loader USB interface to program and install the firmware designed for your car because it does come blank but it allows you to customize it the way you want. Also you will have to sign up as a freelance installer on their website which was free and easy. It uses your existing remotes or you can add a extended range remote kit. Im content with the distance of my factory remotes for now.
There was only one wire I spliced into and that was the Light Blue wire for the parking lights right at the headlight switch to come on when the remote start is activated. It just makes it easier to tell if your engine is running during the daytime if you cant hear it but you really dont need to connect it. It also can tell if your hood is open and will not remote start with it open. I have it programed to remote start after pressing LOCK, UNLOCK, LOCK to minimize the chance of starting when i didn't intend to. Two things it has going for it, all the accessories will be powered up (radio , full A/C control ETC, heated seats if equiped) and if you want to, While your car is in park, press LOCK,UNLOCK,LOCK ( or what ever you have it program to) on the remote you can remove your keys and keep the engine running, (example to check your PO BOX while your wife is in the car) put the keys back in it and go. If you press on the brake without the keys in the ignition, then the car will shutdown. Also you can press LOCK UNLOCK LOCK on the remote again and the car will shutdown too.
I paid $99 for the OL-RS-GM10 and $38 for the OL-Loader . The Dealer quoted me over 400.00 to install the factory one. I might go that route one day but for now im very satisfied with the omegalink remote start.

I was under the impression all Tahoes, had the capability of remote start.
You only had to buy the correct key fob and have a Tech 2 programmer enable it?
Just like all Honda Fit's have keyless entry, but you need the right fob and the car programmed.. (all the hardware is there).
