Default Are The Performance Gains by "Chipping"A Pre-OBD2 Burb Worth It???

Anybody out there have any good or bad stories from putting a performance chip in a 92-93-94 era Suburban with a 5.7L?
I see that Hypertech and Jet both make chips for them. I hate to spend $150 - $190 if there aren't some decent gains from it.
Any other semi-inexpensive mods to get a little more out of those motors? My 93 K2500 needs all the help it can get!

Thanks, Dave

It depends on the value of $150 in your eyes.
You will not go: "Oh my God! What a difference." for sure.
Those EPROM's will do just a little in the way of power enhancement, they simply richen up the fuel mixture and advance the ignition timing slightly.
They are a good value when compared to the modern power programmers.

How tired is the 350 TBI in your old Suburban though?

Thanks. I just wanted to know that there is a little something to be gained. I would hope 10-20 HPgained would be felt a little. My night and day difference is when I drive the tank for a few days, then hop in my95 Z-28. It makes the camaro seem even faster!
Thevehicle has 132K on it, the motor seems to run well, no smoke, oil, or noises. I guess it's just hard to get 6000+ pounds moving with those early 90's small blocks.

I hear you.
In your case a lower rear axle ratio may be more the ticket then just about anything short of swapping out a more capable motor.
