Default Performance Questions

I have a 98 2500 7.4L V8 that has served me well (90,000 Miles) and I am wanting to do a couple things to it for fun and when searching I couldn't find anything too recent so I am looking for information/suggestions on air filters and exhausts and if there is anything else anyone has any recommendations about?

Jordo,

As far as exhaust changes go, it really is a matter of how far do you want to go and what kind of interior and exterior sound are you looking for. You can add headers, change the cam and put on a nice dual exhaust system. One of the problems with some of the systems is the drone created. You may want to contact Summit Racing and discuss your requirements. I have Super 44 flowmasters on my Camaro with headers and it is really loud. It has a nice rumble at idle and sounds great for a muscle car. However, on my Suburban, I like it being quiet. It all depends upon what you are looking for.

There are lots of fun things you can do to these trucks.

Have fun with your upgrades.

Don't look for any massive power increases w/ CAI and header add-ons w/o modifying the internals to utilize the improved air/exhaust flow improvements.

You might consider one of the Performance Chips for the Computer.

I guess I should have clarified a little bit with what I was asking and was misleading with my "performance" question. I think my burb has what I need, and it is the 454 so it has the power I want, I just was looking to possibly throw on a better exhaust/CAI type of things to free up some air flow and part noise to sound good. I am not sure if I want to go as far as headers/performance chip only for the sake of not wanting to mess with tune everything to be running right, when it is right now. I have always loved K&N and think I may go with the K&N CAI (57-3016-1 - K&N 57 Series FIPK, Performance Intake Kit direct from K&N) but I have no idea what to do about the exhaust or if there is anything else of use that I should know about.
