Tahoe & SuburbanThe power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.
Hi everyone. I'm a new member here. My name is Sara and I own a 2004 Chevy Suburban 1500. The other day I was leaving my mother-in-laws house when all of a sudden my truck wouldn't start. It was like it would try to turn over, but it just wouldn't catch. So I called AAA and the guy that came out said it sounded like I needed to replace my fuel pump. I had it towed to a mechanic down the street, and the mechanic took a look and said the same thing, my fuel pump needs to be replaced. He quoted me $360+ for the part from the dealer, and $350 for the labor. He said it would be close to $1,000 total..
Here's my issue with that, my truck is close to 20 years old and has almost 170,000 miles on it, so I really don't want to dump $1,000 into it for a fuel pump, nor can I even afford to right now. I realize that probably makes me sound really cheap or even naïve about how much owning a vehicle really costs etc., but I just don't have the extra money right now. I've only just started working again, and I have so much debt that's built up in other areas of my life due to being unemployed for the last 2 years, so I'm really trying to cut back costs, IF I CAN. If it turns out that I have to buy this part from the dealer because any other part would be complete crap, then so be it, I'll figure it out. But I figured I should at least explore all my options first, right?
My question is, are any of these brands good? I've heard of AC Delco and Delphi, but I'm wondering about Carter, Bosch, US Motor Works, etc. If you have any suggestions on which one of these I should get or if none of them are worthy, I would very much appreciate it! Thank you in advance!
