Default poblem with directional signal

I am having a problem with the right rear directional signal.2005 Suburban LT 1500
The right rear directional light works normally when activated on the column, however, when the brake is activated, the indicater light on the dash stops flashing and goes solid. The indicater on the right mirror goes solid and both the stop and BOTH left and right rear directional lights go solid. I have checked/replaced both front and rear bulbs ( stop and directional), but it does not solve the problem.Someone said it could be in the multi function switch ( stalk switch), but I don't want to start replacing parts without a better diagnosis. Any ideas?
