power loss while towing?
I have a 2004 Suburban 2500 with the 8.1L with 108K miles
I have replaced the following:
fuel pump - fuel pressure reg - fuel filter - crank shaft senser - plugs - wires.
Cleaned the following: air cleaner (Airraid) - throttle body - MAS
My problem only exist while towing up hill randomly ( not all the time, differant weather and temps) But when it does happen, the gas pedel is unresponsive and engine sounds like it is bogging down. sometimes the engine will die, other times I just coast untill the power comes back or I have to pull over and shut it down for a few minutes. Then it's fine ??
My trailer is only 7500lbs GVWR and the truck runs great all other times.
I've had the dealership work on this problem for over 3 yrs and they have replaced alot with no cure. I even had a tech drive my truck with the trailer up and over a pass and nothing LOL. It is scary when it happens, and now the warranty is out. So any help from my fellow Chevy guys would be great !!
PS. I did just install a EDGE programmer, but haven't had the trailer out yet this year...

It might be worth connecting a scanner with data-logging capabilities to see if you can capture what's happening when it happens... I have the Actron CP9180 but its not available but here is a similar model Amazon.com: Actron CP9185 Elite AutoScanner Diagnostic Code Scanner: Automotive

My Edge does not do real time. I did however have the dealer manager take the Sub up and over the eisenhour tunnel with a engine diagnostic tool attached, of course nothing happened that day.
Should I remove my Poweraid throttle body spacer ?

I guess so, why did you put on in the first place?

If and when it dies and you pull over, does it restart immediately? There is a very slim chance it could be a bunch of gunk in your fuel tank or the lines. You've done so many other things to it, maybe it would be worth it to drop the tank, clean it out and blow out the fuel lines. Also replace the fuel filters at that same time so you KNOW they are not the source of your problems... just a couple more things to rule out.
