Default Probably a dumb question about the wipers...

I just got a 2007 Suburban 2 weeks ago. This morning, it was frosty out, so I used the auto start. When I got in to leave and started the truck, the wipers sprayed solvent and turned on. They continued to do this about once a minute for 10 minutes. What the heck? I know that this truck is WAY smarter than it really needs to be and I'm assuming this is some over-th-top feature I'm going to wish it didn't have, but I thought I'd start by asking here. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

do you have an LTZ? if so probably the rain sensing feature
if not could be a feature that is to eliminate frost on the windshield - since of course the driver is not smart enough to do it themselves
at least we dont have the dumb crap some new cars have - lane departure warning...fall asleep warning...pick your nose too much warning...

It's not an LTZ. It's a Z71. I researched this for hours yesterday and started to wonder if it was a rain sensing feature. Thanks for the reply!

FBC: Welcome to the forum.

You have the heated washer fluid function turned on most likely. There was a recall on this to first put a fuse on it and then later to remove it entirely. The switch is down by the console on the right IIRC.

Thank you! I looked into this and I think you are right! I dug out the carfax report they gave us at the dealership, and it doesn't show that the recall had been done. I'll call the dealership in the morning! Thanks again!

Did turning it off solve the problem?

Now I'm really going to sound like an idiot... I have no idea, because I'm not even sure how it turns on. I know I kept messing with the wipers to try to get it to stop, and eventually it did.

The switch is in the row of switches below the HVAC control. IIRC it's the one on the right.

It's really a good feature if you live in an ice and snow region when it doesn't set your truck on fire. I actually got the aftermarket version for my 2010.

They sent me $100 check for disabling it per the recall.

Did they remove the switch?
