pulley alignment???
bought a new belt because i noticed something had chewed it up. ate an entire notch off. i thought it was just improperly installed. two days later though i noticed it is doin the same thing. it kind of appears my crank pulley is sticking out to far. also the inside of the crank pulley (the edge that is highest which in turn keeps the pulley from sliding off) is shiny which tells me that that is the likely culprit. i was just gonna buy some underdrive pullies but got to thinking that this might be a more serious problem. driveability seems fine, however at around 21k-23k i get a little more vibration in the truck than usual. after the new belt install it got a little better. any tips or where to starts??? 99 suburban, 124k, 4wd (no front driveshaft), 5.7l

When the engine is running, does it look like the pulley is wobbling? If you can get in there, take a straight edge and put it on the pulleys to see if they are properly aligned. Also check the idler and the tensioner.
Took the balancer off an the rubber ring is considerably cracked and not flush with the rest of the pulley. Id say it sticks out about an eigth to a quarter inch. I'm gonna replace it asap and hopefully that fixes the belt problems.
Replaced the balancer and more of the vibration is gone. Now I can notice a little wobble on the crank pulley. Not sure if its going to eat the belt off or not (haven't driven it for a period of time yet). Can the pulley be bad and is there such a thing as an internal balancer?
