Default Purchasing 2012

Thinking about getting a 2012 suburban with 140000 miles. We live in PNW. Mostly wondering what might be common things to look out for. Brakes seem soft and stearing feels really light for such a big vehicle. We have an avalanche of the same generation so I was expecting it to feel somewhat similar. This one also doesn't have a 4low option. Is that normal for these. I was expecting for low and high. Any information is much appreciated.
