Default Radiator fan running at startup

New member here. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Last night when I started my 2000 Suburban in 29F weather, the radiator fan came on and stayed on till I shut the car off. I only noticed it last night. I purchased the car about 2 months ago and never noticed this before.

The car was sitting for more than 24 hours. My AC and defroster were both off.

Any ideas as to what I should be looking at? Coolant temperature sensor? Relay? Thermostat?

The car warms up fine and does not overheat. Runs at normal operating temp.

This car has been a nightmare and at this point, I have pumped as much $ into it as I paid for it ($3800).

Had to rebuild the tranny 2 weeks after I got it.

Again, any insight would be appreciated.

Just one more thing.

The SES light is NOT on. Wouldn't the failing sensor throw a code?

no, not always. if we lived in the sahara and it was hot all the time or cold all the time it would throw codes.

I am open to be corrected by the other fellas here.
