Default Random driver's window issue

2002 Suburban with auto down on the dr. side only. Recently, sometimes when you put the window down it won't go back up. If this happens, we need to turn it off and then on and try it. Sometimes it takes several attempts. Weird part is that it seems to help if you attempt to go down first, then up with the switch. Please advise as to what I should do. This is my wife's DD and I'm not liking sending her and my 2 young sons out like this. TIA.

Sounds like it is either your switch or possibly the motor. You will have to dig into it to find out which one it is.

How do you figure it out? I'm guessing, since it has the auto down feature, maybe it has something to do with that. I'm not sure what controls that feature. On some vehicles its in the switch, others the motor and others have a separate controller.

Put a volt meter or test light on the motor connector (both leads on the motor) to see if it's a switch problem or a motor issue. Does the window get stuck if you don't lower it all the way down? Maybe it's time to clean the window tracks?

You can get a new regulator for less than $50. Just replace it.

It's a known issue - I've replaced two of them in my '01 Burb.

So it's usually the regulator? I do need to clean both fronts, they are slowing down. What's the group consensus on what to use for cleaning and what to use for lube. I was thinking brake clean (carefully) and white lithium grease for lube.
