To be honest I am pretty impressed that GM had the fortitude to develop a little software application that addresses mold and mildew. The lint thing is a non-issue for me, I simply keep a lint brush in the center console and give the seat a few swipes when needed, otherwise I like the look and feel of the cloth and it also appears to be wearing very nicely.

Ok, it sounds like the "afterblow" feature has been enabled with the Tech-2 device, if you don't like it then have a dealer disable it.

ZX,
what is the criteria used to enable the "afterblow” will it always come on or will certain events need to take place i.e. it knows how much moisture is present, the rear AC has been used for X amount of time. I have the rear AC and use it from time to time but have never heard it run. Here in Texas the AC will get ran a lot and I haven't had a problem with the stinky AC but I know it can happen, should I wait till I need or since I'm headed to the dealer tomorrow for my first oil change and tire rotation should I ask him to "after blow” me…

When afterblow has been enabled by the scan tool the blower motor will operate at 68percent blower speed for 2minutes 30seconds to 4minutes after the engine has been in Key OFF for 30minutes. The following conditions must be met for the HVAC module to operate the afterblow: • The outside air temperature must be at least 21°C (70°F). • The A/C compressor must have operated during the latest key cycle. • The engine must be turned off for at least 30minutes. • The system voltage must be at least 12volts.
If you live in an area of low humidity and A/C odor has not been a problem on past vehicles then I wouldn't worry about it.
If you live in a moist climate it should help.
GM recommends that dealers enable this feature in humid areas prior to delivering the vehicle.

Many folks did not realize blower motors always ran on low speed to maintain a positive cabin pressure to maintain fresh air in the vehicle , unless the function sw was in the off position.
These are little things that are done for a reason and running the rear evap fan for a period after A/C is used is not an unusual thing . They did do something right even if we don't understand the reasons why.

Rear A/C blower is not on low like front blower.
Rear A/C blower is call auxiliary blower and has it's own separate module with the blower relay internal to it. It's called the auxiliary blower control module and it's in with the blower motor in the rear. Front HVAC module controls the rear module.
