rear diff help please
i am currently rebuilding the rear differential. my quiestion is how to remove the gear that attaches to the drive shaft. the axles are out. locker is out. ive removed the drive shaft. removed the nut but the gear doesnt budge. this all started because of shearing teeth off of the gearing inside the diff.

Unless you have all the correct tools and experience rebuilding diffs it something you should pay to have done. Precise measurement must be done to set it up properly. Most shops will only replace the entire unit not rebuild it. If you can not / do not how to get the pinion gear out you should leave it alone. Your repair will work for the short term but unlikely in the long run.
I'm guessing "precise" was not in this guys vocabulary....
