I want to get at the wireing on the rear third tail light to install a safety flasher. I see there is a large oval rubber boot on the upper portion of the rear hatch. i tryed to remove it to look under it but it wont budge. Is there some king of trick to remove it? All I want to do is get at the two wires that go to the light. Thanks for your time...

I can't swear to it but I'd bet the boot has a gromet type flair on the hidden end,
you may be able to collapse it with a small tipped screw driver and some silicone lube by probing into the outer edge of the hole that you can expose...

 

Mine came off easy when I was going to replace it w/a 'smoked' one... there was 2 wires you could easily tap...

I wonder if you could add like another light to each side... have some big *** HMCSLs....

 

I got the grommet off does any one know what color wires go to the third light? Not much room to work in there. It's on a 2007 tahoe.
