Removing "Active Fuel Management" on '13 Tahoe LTZ
Hey guys, I'm new here. Got a 2013 Tahoe LTZ and I'm looking to get rid of the Active Fuel Management on it. I traded in my '07 Tahoe LTZ towards the '13 and I was used to being able to push the pedal down and actually go somewhere instead of waiting for the other 4 cylinders to fire back up.
What's the best way to get rid of it? Get a tuner? Get a chip? What brand of tuner is good for GM vehicles? Who's a good email tuner for GM vehicles?
Sorry if the questions are noobish but I'm a lifelong Ford guy. I currently have a 2012 Mustang GT that is modded to hell and back (with SCT X3 tuner) but a buddy of mine told me that tuning GM vehicles is completely different and that I just needed to join a forum to get info before purchasing anything.

Welcome to the forum.
The reason it's sluggish off the line is because of Torque Management, not AFM. AFM switches from 4 to 8 in milliseconds. Torque Management is what protects the drive train and allows for a 5/100K warranty. Now somebody like Blackbear Performance can reduce TM w/ a tune. From what I've read, that's better than any of the others like Superchips or Edge, etc. Check out his website and/or give him a call.

Nick,
Welcome to the forum. You may want to contact Range Technology and discuss options with them. They have a product that will force the AFM to be on most of the time (Up to 90%). It plugs into the ODB II port.
It may provide you with what you are looking for.

I really don't believe the issue lies with AFM.
It's the computer not letting you beat up on the transmission.
Same thing I had to get used to in 2012 Wrangler I just got. Usually i can slow to 5-10 MPH and slide it into reverse... Nope. have to be crawling or STOPPED before it will let you put it in R.
pain, but i understand why they did it.
