Removing exhaust system
OK, I keep seeing install instructions calling for the cutting of the stock exhaust system for removal? Has anyone removed their stock system WITHOUT cutting it in half? I haven't inspected it closely yet, but it seems odd to me that it can't be snaked out? I am getting a Magnaflow for a sweet price, so stock system is coming out...I'm not afraid to break out the Sawzall, but would rather get it out in one piece so I can easily replace it at lease end...I guess if I can't, I'll have to break out the welder when the time comes and put it back together...
So, am I required to cut it, or has anyone figured out a way to get it out in one piece? Thanks...

I havent done a tahoe yet but on the Trailblazer SS and the Hummer H2 directions say to cut and we tried to get them out in one but screw that. If you have lift like we do it wasstill a b***h to try to remove it in one piece. We ended up cutting both. So I can imagine on the ground it would be worse. I saycut it out and at lease end turn in the magnaflow too. Even at Magnaflows 600ish retail its not worth keeping it to put on another vehicle. And you say you got a sweet deal so I would just cut it. To me exhaust is just not something I want to reuse....e
The ones on their site are not working for me, but I have seen others stating it's necessary to cut it...I guess I'll find out soon enough. Well, if I was getting another Tahoe after this one, I'd keep it and put it on the new one, but we'll see when the time comes...I always remove my aftermarket equipment at lease end and sell to other enthusiasts for cheap...not giving the stealerships any of my paid for equipment, that's for sure...
the link is not working 4 me either. This is the exhaust i'm putting but I'm waiting for the dual rear side exit like the escalade. I love Magnaflow's catback systems but for the truely performance tuned folks we recommend these. Little more pricey.check out the instructions page. http://www.corsaperf.com/installTahoe2007.pdfWith the muffler and the coffee can in the rear I think your going to have to cut it out. I could be wrong.
Corsa makes nice products, but way too much money for the handful of horses you pick up...withsome exceptions, today's truck/car exhaust systems are way less restrictive than yesterday's vehicles, so doing a catback is more for the sound (important to many of us!) and maybe a few horsepower along with it. I'd probably just do a Magnaflow (or similar) muffler only, and get rid of the resonator at the same time for the improved sound, but for the price I am getting the catback system for, I'm probably better off by the timeI price in my muffler shop's charge for installing/removing/adding pipe, etc...
Yeah, looked at lunch real quick underneath, and it will most likely need to be cut...no biggie.

installed magnaflow #12589 (muffler only....3" in and out outlets).... If stock stainless steel pipes are 2.75"I would not think replacing the pipes for "mandrel" bent and 1/4" diameter gain is worth almost $600 for cat back system. I did have the resonator removed and oval tip installed....Total price $210. inclu TTL. I am quite happy with the cost/benefit on this install... FYI - don't believe the increase in MPG and performance..... one should consider this strictly a sound improvement and not a performance improvement.... Just my humble opinion.....
Agree totally Big D...luckily, I am picking up my catback for just abit more than you paid...but I never expect much in MPG or performance...it's all for the sound pretty much, and any small benefits in power or mpg are just icing on the cake.
