Default Replace bowtie piece over rear plate

I am attempting to remove entire plastic piece over the license plate on the tailgate.I purchased a Yukon piece to replace the OEM because it is flat (no logo), The dealer is no help in removing the old. There is some sort of retaining bolt that I can get to but it just spins around when wrenched and I cant get any further. Please help...

Maybe you have to pull the back panel off of the rear door to gain access to another bolt/screw/pin or something that could be holding it on? Just a thought.

From what I've seen before on this forum, there's at least one fastener that you have to remove the interior hatch panel to get to. I believe it was stated that it was a PITA because of the wiper motor.
