Default Replacement Engine for 2001 Tahoe

Where's the cheapest/best place to get a new or re-manufactured engine?(5.3L) I'm burning about 2-3 quarts of oil between changes with 230,000 miles on the Tahoe. THANKS!

Default engine

If you are going to replace the whole engine anyway.. why not wait until it dies?

2 quarts of oil / 5,000 miles = $50/year?

engine = $$$$$

was the 2001 a 5.3? I thought they had a 5.4 in there too? maybe that was Ford.

a quick google search (literally first hit) shows about 2k for an engine.

I think you're right, that is pretty cheap in the long run!

What weight oil are you using?

Might help by going to a little heavier or a high mileage oil.
