Default Replacement subwoofer does not have enough power. What is the easiest fix?

The factory 8 inch sub on my 2001 Suburban went bad. I replaced it with a Kicker Comp 100 watt RMS max. It plays but I can only hear it when the bass hits hard. Seems like it isn't getting enough power from the factory amp. Can I add an aftermarket amp to just the sub without bypassing the factory amp. What would be the easiest fix for this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike

good question. I'm thinking the sub in mine is farting out and am looking to replace it too.

you could probably add an amp to the sub you put in, will need to intercept the pre-amp signal at the input to the factory amp to run it to your new amp..

I see. So I would have to bypass the factory amp. I was wondering if I used the wires that come from the factory amp to the sub for my new amp, if it would damage the new amp. I was thinking it might be ok because the factory amp probably isn't putting out that high of watts. Thanks
