Replacing the Fuel Injection
So I have a 1999 Suburban with the usual 5.7. I had the factory recall, replacement of the injectors done quite awhile ago at like, 166,000 miles I think....ish. Although reading the invoice it looks like maybe they only did a flushing and cleaning......Anyway, assuming they did replace the injection system. When I put the new engine in @ 205,000 miles I carried over the fuel injection that was installed for the recall I mentioned earlier. The car now has 370,000 miles on it and I would say this fuel injection set up has 204,000 miles. I am thinking I am going to keep the car til the new Mitchelins wear out, likely 40,000-50,000 miles. The old gal is getting a little sluggish, so I was thinking I would replace the injection system, plugs etc. to breathe a little life into her last days. I have seen the newer type retro-fit system with the injectors on the tips of the injection lines as apposed to the "free flow" like mine has. Does anyone have experience with the new type? A Delco replacement with the new type is only like $400.00. Any recommendations?
