Default Rim size change on 2007 Tahoe

Hey THUGS, I just began thinking about taking the stock 17 inch rims that are on my LT and moving up to 20s, perhaps even 22s. I was just wondering the exact process of changing rim size from my size rims to the next.

Thanks A LOT!

Welcome to the forum.

If you stay w/ the same rim width and offset as the factory 20s and 22s and same tire size, you won't have any problems. If you go w/ wider rims and/or wider or taller tires, then you can run into some rubbing issues.

Default hmm

there is also conversion chart online. Just google it.

example, factory 265x70 R17 has same diameter then 305x45 R22.

I got 22'' on my burb with no problems.

Thanks! So basically as long as I keep the same overall diameter it will be an easy fit. This is sounding good. I will pull the trigger!

As long as you don't get crazy w/ width.

After looking at this more, I've come to the tire size being 275/55 R20. Does this sound correct?

Those 2 tire sizes aren't the same diameter...

Here is a good chart for the OP that you can use:

Default Will I have room?

I have a 2007 Tahoe LT, I was wondering if I had room to put 18" rims and nitro terra grappler tires on there? The tire size in 285/60/18.

Alan,

The 285's you mention, are almost the same as your OEM's, save they are about 3/4" wider, and 1/8" shorter. Close enough to keep your Speedometer right on.

The likelihood that they will slip on with no problems is good, but, just in case, get your Hoe up on a Flat Rack, turn the wheels right and left, and make sure that there is reasonable clearance.
